General Information Maldives archipelago comprises 26 atolls, which are located 700 km south-west of Ceylon, the new name of Sri Lanka, and crosses the equator. The area of the archipelago is – 90 thousand km. The archipelago consists of about 1200 islands, but only 200 of them inhabited and 90 islands, are the hotels.
